The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Quality Assurance and Improvement Section (QAIS) conducted a 3-day Seminar-Workshop on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to 37 government nurse managers from Zamboanga City Medical Center (Region 9), Northern Mindanao Medical Center (Region 10), Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (Region 11), Davao Regional Medical Center (Region 11), Carmen Municipal Hospital (Region 11), Southern Philippines Medical Center (Region XI), Cotabato Regional Medical Center (Region 12), Cotabato Provincial Hospital (Region 12) last October 7-9, 2019 at Kamagong Room, JICA, SPMC.

On July 26-27, 2019, representatives of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Quality Assurance and Improvement Section (QAIS) bagged the Silver Award for Quality Improvement Study contest and 3rd place for Poster Making Contest during the 23rd Search for the Most Outstanding Quality Improvement Studies and 9th Poster Contest in the Hospital, conducted by the Philippine Society for Quality in Healthcare, at the Tagaytay Medical Center.

On 26 & 27 March 2019, the Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance Unit (PSPVU) staff conducted benchmarking activity on patient safety in three prestigious hospitals in the Philippines, namely: the Makati Medical Center (MMC) - Makati City, The Medical City (TMC) - Ortigas City, and St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) - Taguig City. All these private hospitals were accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), a well-known international accreditation body that assesses and evaluates healthcare institutions in order to ensure international standards on patient safety and their practices.

The Southern Philippines Medical Center - Quality Assurance and Improvement Section (SPMC-QAIS) conducted a 3-day seminar-workshop on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), participated in by healthcare executives and staff from Compostela Valley Provincial Hospitals (CVPH) of Pantukan, Laak, Maragusan and Montevista, last April 1-3, 2019 at the Centro Beach Club, Baybay, Pindasan Mabini, Compostela Valley Province. There were 35 participants, composed of chiefs of hospital, administrative officers, chief nurses, staff nurses, medical technologists, dentists, pharmacists, and nutritionists/dieticians.

On 28 & 29 March 2019, the Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance Unit (PSPVU) staff attended the congress entitled “2nd Patient Safety Congress Making Patient Safety Work! Translating Theory into Practice,” which was held in the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City. The said activity was facilitated by the University of the Philippines Manila, College of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.
