The Southern Philippines Medical Center Department of Family and Community Medicine (SPMC-DFCM) celebrated World Family Doctors Day last May 19-20, 2015 at the Outpatient Preventive Care Center lobby, kicking off with free spirometry screening for patients and showcasing posters of various DFCM programs and services.
The two-day celebration concluded with a lecture on hypertension and a medical-surgical mission in Barangay Acacia, Buhangin, Davao City, the department's adopted community. The activities were done in cooperation with SM Foundation.
The World Family Doctors Day was first celebrated in 2010. The World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) started this annual event in order to highlight the role and contribution of family doctors in health care systems around the world.
