The Department of Dermatology was established in February of 1998 subsequent to being granted a department status. In 1996, Dermatology was a section under the Department of Internal Medicine, with its training program originally accredited by the Philippine Society of Cutaneous Medicine.
The SPMC Dermatology Residency Program is a three-year residency training program. It was accredited in 2008 by the Philippine Dermatological Society, and it takes pride in being the only Dermatology training program outside of Metro Manila.
